FROM USD TO MXN PESOS - HOW TO CONVERT IT

Keep in mind that exchange rates can fluctuate depending on the date and time, but these conversion rates will give you a good idea of how much your money is worth:

  • 20 MXN pesos = $1 USD
  • 100 MXN pesos = $5 USD
  • 500 MXN pesos = $25 USD
  • 1000 MXN pesos = $50 USD
  • 2000 MXN pesos = $100 USD

Converting dollars to Mexican pesos (and vice versa) can be easily done using the following tips and tools:

  1. Exchange Offices: Look for authorized exchange offices or banks in Tulum that offer currency exchange services. These establishments will provide you with the current exchange rate and convert your dollars to Mexican pesos or vice versa. Compare rates at different locations to ensure you get the best deal.
  2. ATMs: Withdrawal from ATMs is another convenient way to convert your dollars to Mexican pesos. Look for ATMs that accept international cards and offer the option to withdraw in Mexican pesos. However, keep in mind that some ATMs may charge additional fees for foreign card transactions.
  3. Online Currency Converters: Use reliable online currency converters to check the current exchange rate between dollars and Mexican pesos. Websites like XE.com, OANDA.com, or currency exchange apps provide real-time exchange rates and convenient conversion tools. However, note that the rates provided online may not include any fees or commissions that exchange offices or banks may charge.
  4. Credit Cards: Many establishments in Tulum accept major credit cards. If you use your credit card for purchases, the conversion from dollars to pesos will be done automatically by your credit card company, typically at a competitive exchange rate. However, be aware that some credit card companies may charge foreign transaction fees.
  5. Local Merchants: Some local merchants, especially in tourist areas, may accept U.S. dollars as payment. However, this is not guaranteed everywhere, and the exchange rate they offer may not be as favorable as official exchange services. It’s advisable to carry Mexican pesos for most transactions.

Remember to consider any fees, commissions, or exchange rate differences when converting currencies. It’s a good idea to compare rates, check for any additional charges, and plan your currency conversion ahead of time to ensure you get the best value for your money.

CHEAPEST ATM TO GET MONEY IN TULUM

Sometimes the ATMs in Tulum Hotel Zone or Beach Zone run out of money, so it’s a good idea to consider ATMs in Tulum Center.

Super Aki grocery store have only a 30 MXN pesos fee for pulling money out. The maximum is 4,000 MXN pesos. However, if you want to get more money, we would recommend you to go to Chedraui Supermarket, where you can get up to 7,000 MXN pesos at a time. They have a HSBC ATM, and the pull is 80 MXN pesos. So it’s a good idea if you need a bit of extra cash for your Tulum adventure!

Our experience: We always try to have some MXN pesos handy, so if we are planning a short trip or we know we are just not in the mood of visiting an ATM, we just withdraw some money from Chedraui Supermarket. The fee is not as bad, and it’s also a good idea to keep the extra cash in case of an emergency. Plus, you can find lots of other things at the supermarket!
